The South Central District Livestock Show is the qualifying show for 4-H & FFA
members from the surrounding parishes, to qualify them to go to the LSU Ag Center
State Livestock Show. They will be showing Market Hogs, Sheep, Goats and Steers,
as well as Breeding Sheep, Goats, Sheep, Beef Cattle and Dairy Cattle. The animals
arrive on Thursday and some judging begins around 2pm, on Friday and Saturday the
judging starts at 8 am.

The LSU AgCenter State Livestock Show is the culminating point for the 4-H
and FFA exhibitors that have groomed and fed their animals to get them to

coming down to watch the young people show their animals. You can come and
walk thru the barns and visit with them as they prepare their animals for
their classes. The animals begin arriving on Saturday the 9th and showing
begins at 3 pm that day and continues thru the 16th.

Cowboys and cowgirls representing high schools from all regions of Louisiana will
compete for the title of state champion in each of 12 different rodeo events. The
top 4 contestants in each event earn the right to represent Louisiana at the National
High School Finals Rodeo in Springfield, IL. Rodeo events will include Bull Riding,
Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Team Roping, Tie-down
Calf Roping, Breakaway Calf Roping, Goat Tying, Steer Wrestling, Boy’s Cutting and Girl’s
Cutting. This is an extremely family-oriented event and will be great fun for kids of all
ages. Rodeo performances nightly June 15 – 21.

Entertainment, exhibits, food and visitors from around the globe will take center stage at the Baton Rouge Center for World Affairs, Inc.’s International Heritage Celebration to be held at the Baton Rouge River Center, downtown Baton Rouge, on Sunday, November 2, 2008, from noon to 8 pm..
The International Heritage Celebration will open at noon. The colorful Parade of Nations, one of the highlights of the Celebration, begins at 3:00.
Several stages of live music plus food, dance, storytelling, native dress, flags, stage performances and educational booths representing over 40 countries provide a rich insight into the multi-cultural makeup of Baton Rouge and southeast Louisiana.
Everyone can pick up a free “passport” which may be stamped at each country exhibit. Event t-shirts will be on sale. Be sure to shop the International Market and dine at the Taste of Nations Food Court.
