Alice is popularly known as the Hub City of South Texas. Alice was established in 1888 and named after Captain Richard King, who established the King Ranch. Alice is conveniently located in the heart of South Texas at the intersection of US281 and State Hwy 44.Alice boasts eleven city parks, thirteen ball fields, two golf courses, two public swimming pools, a bowling alley, a movie theatre, and fair grounds with a rodeo arena, Alice and it's surrounding area have an abundance of wildlife. Hunting, fishing, and bird watching are favorite activities for residents and visitors. Several museums share historical artifacts about Alice and South Texas.
