Aspen Mountain is the athlete*s dream. It*s known for steep runs and big bumps with terrain to challenge the most accomplished skiers. For variety, a free skier shuttle is available to Highlands, Snowmass and Buttermilk. Highlands, a local favorite, is known for its variety of challenging terrain, including the Highlands Bowl and features a new base village. Buttermilk is the best mountain for new skiers and offers incredible snow boarding. It offers a popular terrain park and a half pipe for skiers and snowboarders. The Aspen Ski Schools are about the best in the country for all levels of skiers. Want a day off from the slopes? Snowshoe tours, cross country and backcountry skiing are readily available. Many guests enjoy climbing Buttermilk on snowshoes and basking in the view of Maroon Bells from the top. A dog sled ride or a Fresh Tracks Nature Tour with the Aspen Ski Company are popular pastimes. There are horse drawn carriages, sleigh rides, inner-tubing down Snowmass Mountain, snowmobiling and hot air balloon rides.
